Miami, FL – Be Strong International, a leading nonprofit based in South Miami-Dade, was granted the amount of $100,000 to funds from the State of Florida.  This is a mayor donation that will make a direct impact in the youth of underserved communities.

With the initiative of Senator Ana Maria Rodríguez, Representative Vance Aloupis, and approved by Governor Ron DeSantis, these funds will be used to teach youth in Miami-Dade County skills needed to obtain holistic wellbeing through the program Project H.O.P.E. (Healthy Outcomes through Prevention Education).  Through this program, youth ages 10 to 18, will learn character building skills, social emotional wellness, effective communication skills, financial literacy skills and resume writing skills.

The check was presented to Michelle Shirley, CEO at Be Strong International, during the Block Party Back to School Community Fair, held during the month of August.

“We couldn’t be more thankful for the generosity of the State of Florida. We’re incredibly humbled by their trust in us to carry out the responsibility of teaching youth in Miami-Dade County, all the skills and tools needed for them to thrive, succeed, and obtain holistic wellbeing”, said Shirley.

Project H.O.P.E.’s transformative workshop series for teens is offered to public schools, private schools and youth-serving organizations. The program uses a holistic approach to help teens and young adults make informed decisions about relationships and avoiding risky behaviors. During the sessions, students participate in simulated real-world situations and learn how to navigate through challenges often experienced during adolescence.
